Introducing Nick Mondora

About me.

I am currently a student at Purdue University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering. While in school, I am also involved in Purdue Space Program: A SEDS Chapter and work as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Maurice J. Zucrow Laboratories. Outside of my current coursework, I am also involved in business and entrepreneurship. In fact, I even have a patent!

There are a few things I should tell you.

  • I’m currently completing my junior year in Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. Some of my favorite current or past coursework include: Aerospace Design, Fluid Mechanics, and Aeromechanics.

  • While at Purdue, I’ve become involved in Purdue Space Program: Liquids. During my first few semesters, I helped with the build and test of our Methane-LOx rocket, Boomie Zoomie B, which competed in the FAR-MARS Launch Contest. Now, I’m the Lower Plumbing Responsible Engineer for our new Ethanol-LOx rocket, CraterMaker Special. I lead a team of 10 through the development of propellant feed plumbing on this rocket.

  • Working as an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Meyer Group at M. J. Zucrow Labs, I have spent a lot of time with experiment design, setup, and operation. I’ve gained experience with data acquisition systems, laser-based imaging techniques, mechanical design, and data analysis.

I also spent one semester working as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant. The class was ENGR 132: Transforming Ideas to Innovation and my responsibilities included interacting with 100+ students, grading assignments, and coordinating with the rest of the Teaching Team.
